Back again! + WoW Entry pt. 2

Okay, so I've been sick for a while, fresh now -  and to be honest, I totally forgot about my blog. The only thing that reminded me of it was the google pincode letter in just received.

Anyways, I promised you a WoW entry pt. 2 with more focus on instances and PvE.

Basically, PvE/raiding is the 3rd part of the game. We have 2 other parts, PvP and Questing. (Mind the random order of the 3). In the current retail version of World of Warcraft, you can do 5-man dungeons, 10-man or 25-man raid instances. An example of an instance is the 10-man raid version of Naxxramas, where you have to kill alot of bosses, finishing off with Kel'Zhuad.

You basically want 2 tanks, a main and an off - 3 healers (in some fights 2, in some others 4, it depends on player setup and skill level, not to forget about the bossfight). The rest will ofcourse be a mixture of ranged, caster and melee DPS classes.

Personally, I recently started playing World of Warcraft again, but at the moment I am just currently leveling. I plan to raid Vanilla (lvl 60, first version of WoW) for fun, nothing serious in my mind at the moment.

I have always played a rogue, but this time I made a Night Elf hunter. I'm not really happy with the class itself so far, but I hope things will change as I gain more levels with time.

And the finish, I'm not sure what I should write about next time, maybe some tweak up tips for your computers!

So long!

World of Warcraft entry pt. 1

I will jump from Counter-Strike to World of Warcraft in 2 entrys, just for some new changes. This will still be a Counter-Strike blog (for now), maybe when I have learned a bit more about blogging I will change it to an all-gaming blog :) In this pt. 1 entry I will talk about general world of warcraft, and in pt. 2 I will talk about PvE (player versus encounter = raiding)

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft, or WoW is a MMORPG released by Blizzard in 2004 (US) and 2005 (EU). World of Warcraft is a follow up to the earlier warcraft-universe, also created by Blizzard. This game is different compared to the others though.

World of Warcraft is basically a game where you create a character and will start as level 1.
There are different races and classes.

World of Warcraft: Classic
Alliance races: Dwarf, Gnome, Human, Night Elf.
Alliance classes: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Druid, Paladin & Priest.
Horde races: Orc, Troll, Tauren, Undead.
Horde races: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Shaman, Paladin & Priest.

Both 2 extra alliance and horde races was added to the game later.

Draenei race was added to alliance in the burning crusade expansion, and Bloodelf race was added to horde, also, in the burning crusade expansion. In Wrath of the Lich King another class was added, Death Knight. In the latest expansion, Cataclysm, goblin race was added to horde and worgen race to alliance.

Anyways, you create one of these character (you can have up to 10 different) and start as level 1. Races start in different starting areas. You basically will have to do quests and kill monsters to gain experience, and then gain level aswell. But the game isn't only about doing quests and killing random monsters, there are Player Versus Player battlegrounds in different racks, 10-19, 20-29 and so on.

Instances also exist, this is where you can team up with 4 other players, so youll be 5 in total. In instances there are extra hard encounters, "bosses", that will drop rare loot. It's essential to have a tank, healer and 3 damagedealers. This may vary though.

Example of an instance "deadmines". This used to be a low level instance, 17+ to 25ish. Now it's also available as a level 85 instance.

That's it for now, I will go deeper into WoW and raiding/instances/pve in my next entry!

Funny Counter-Strike videos

Here's a few Counter-Strike videos I stumbled upon on youtube:

IRL CS addition :D

He goes berserk!

Counter-Strke is a game you can play with both total dedication and with no focus, just playing for fun. I personally prefer the serious part of the game, playing clanwars and mixes. This will also get your skills better, instead of just jumping around and surfing on surf maps. This will only make you worse. So if you want to be top notch player, you will have to only play serious games, because trust me, it makes you alot better on the long term.

Anyways, kick back and enjoy these videos. I will come back 2morrow with more text!

EDIT: Actually I have decided to write en entry about World of Warcraft - i have played it since day one, so maybe I will make like a jump from CS to WoW with 1-3 entries :)

The old 1.5 interface.. the best imo!
Counter-Terrorists (the good guys)

Terrorists (the bad guys)

Gotta love the atmosphere ingame. The maps are terrific!

Counter-Strike Condition Zero. An expansion pack, to 1.6. Almost the same!

CS: Headshot entry!

In this entry I will try to explain how I personally prefer to use snipers in counter-strike.

First of all, you obivously want to be relaxed in person. Playing the game right before an exam is not the greatest idea for accurate shooting - which is the most important when it comes to sniping. I actually watched Shooter yesterday, which gave me the idea of this entry.

Use the advantage of a sniper! You can aim much better than colt's, deagles and AK-47's from long distance. Take advantage of this, find a spot there is far away from everything, but where you still can see the enemy coming. In de_dust2 a sniper is essential for holding A-long or even middle at the first 10 seconds of the game, praying for a spawn kill of a slacking enemy.

Full zoom is the preferred, but you can also use semi-zoom. Works too. ALWAYS have a nice offhand, such as deagle or USP while holding a sniper. Remember, while being zoomed you can see all the stuff around you, and the enemy might sneak up upon you.

Here are some good sniping spots I've drawed up for you. The purple star is you, and the red line is where you wanna be aiming. This is both for playing counter-terorrists and terrorists.

And to finish this entry off, after taking your shot, quickly press Q twice, so you go to your gun and then sniper swiftly. This is faster than reloading.

Counter-Strike and me

I tried Counter-Strike for the first time when I was about 10. Long time ago now. If I recall correctly it was temporarily free on the platform Steam. Must have been some kind of stragedy to make Steam more known... and it worked. See now, every gamer know what Steam is. So, not bad decision there. Anyways, my favorite map is de_dust2, de_nuke and de_inferno. I play these map when I play mixes (usually 5 players versus 5) where we use Ventrilo to communicate instantly with eachother.

                                                                            de_dust2

                                                                        de_inferno

                                                                         de_nuke

And that's a screenshot of the 3 favorite maps of mine. A good song to listen to when playing CS casually is Spor - Aztec! It's pure win!
Check out this video... one of the best amateur made cs movies on the tube, i enjoyed in a long time.. it's a bit old, but still good..

will most more videos when i get home!

Counter-Strike: The Game Itself

In this update I will introduce you to Counter-Strike and give out general information about the game itself.

Original cover (taken from Wikipedia.com)

Counter-Strike was released as retail November 8, 2000 by Valve - creaters of the game.
It's a first-person action shooter - which means it's point of view game filled with shooting and action content. To be very short, the game is about killing your opponents character ingame.

From Wikipedia.com:
Counter-Strike is a first-person shooter in which players join either the terrorist or counter-terrorist team (or become a spectator). Each team attempts to complete their mission objective and/or eliminate the opposing team. Each round starts with the two teams spawning simultaneously.
